Welcome to my artistic corner of the web! I’m Lauchlan, and I’m thrilled you stopped by. Let me take you on a little journey through my creative evolution.

Picture this: an angsty kid with paint-stained fingers, eagerly absorbing every brushstroke in those early painting lessons. There were loads of music lessons and summer arts camps too- thanks Mom and Dad! Fast forward to college where I majored in film and creative writing. A few years after school I started my own photography business. If a back injury hadn’t derailed me, I would probably still be taking photos.

Looking for solace and inspiration, I returned to painting, which for me is far more than a job. Painting is my sanctuary, my happy place. It’s where I go to recharge, to lose myself in the rhythm of colors and shapes. When it comes to mediums, I’m a bit of a magpie. You’ll find me with acrylics most days, but swirling in some watercolors the next, and maybe even experimenting with gouache and ink for good measure.

The art that comes from that mix? Well, it’s a mash-up of the world around me and the world within. Based in the heart of Minnesota, I am influenced by the landscapes and ever changing seasons.
